Story Show Your Hope: Heraclitus was a lonely and haughty man. He is called "the dark one" because he was always trying to hide his knowledge from the masses using aphorisms. He scorned all men except one, Bias, who is known for proclaiming that most people are evil. Heraclitus was convinced that people will only do what is right for them if they are forced to. He conceived the soul as a mixture of fire and water, with fire representing what was noble and water what was ignoble. When a man is drunk, his soul is wet. Heraclitus once said, "It is not good for man to get everything he wants." He detested the passions because they distract people from their ambitions.
