It
is not
a hotel or even pension, it's a HOSTEL; a classic older-Bosnian style
designed house, ready to accept guests and visitors from all over
the world. Visitors of this guest-house face one of the most attractive
panoramic views of Sarajevo. This
is because the house is placed almost on the top of the hill, above
the ancient town, just below the old Austrian castle previously used
as a military barracks (and known as Jajce Kaserna).
Views of surrounding nature are available as well. You can see the complete Olympic mountain of Trebevic and the valley with Miljacka river canyon. The house is in the oldest part of Sarajevo called Vratnik. It's accessible by car, by walk (10 minutes from the old center), by public transport or taxi. The old tea-house was largely destroyed during the war. Now the reconstruction of the guest house POD BEDEMOM is realised due to humanitarian and private support. Therefore this project is a private initiative. It is reconstructed with the aim to support foreign people to enjoy the true spirit of Sarajevo and to support local people to work for a social reconstruction of their lives. Throughout the centuries, Sarajevo is an historical town. Ottoman-Turkish, Austro-Hungarian, Yugoslav and sephardic-Jews influences left the town with many faces. The city has recovered from the war and the historical elements are preserved.
In
the region of Sarajevo are many things to do. Rafting, hiking, skiing,
swimming, horse-riding or a superb urban city tour are some of the
possibilities.
