Country side impressions

Country
of bunkers and colors
We have
been traveling from the east border near Ohrid , through Elbasan to Tirana,
a distance of 140 km. It took us 7 hours. Specially the transit road of
Elbasan was a lifetime experience. Later we went sounth near the sea side.
Also here we managed to get an average of 25 km per hour, no more. Indeed
you could discribe the roads as awfull and disasterous, but see it from
another side. Imagine there are bigger main roads. They would be filled
by trucks immeadiately. These trucks will bring goods that are useless,
expensive or competative. It would change the social structure of many
regions if these good would be delivered weekly. It will stimulate peope
to go to the places where the goods are comming from, the cities. It would
leave the countryside broken and disorganized. A countryside that is organized
old fashioned but also very precize; rich variety of goods, water irrigation
systems ecological behaviour.
See it from another point of view. If you go there, make sure youo spend
enough time to take the road the way it is. It is actually pretty easy.
Then you see the roads are not too bad, except for some parts. They are
very narrow, steep and unpredictable. That sounds much better then 'bad'
or 'horrible'. Besides that, the countryside is beautifull, the mountains
are inspiring, the ground is red, the rivers are selfish, the see is clean,
the clouds are mysterious, the autumn is gorgious.
I can not recomment any better place to go then this place.

water irrigation system The country is full of this kind of water irrigation system and, although not everything was functioning anymore, you could see the countryside was very much organized for agriculture. |

: Stone house kilometer 13629 This kind of traditional build stone houses you can only see in the few villages along the steep coastline of the Albanian Riviera. |

: marine port kilometer 13582 Albania is full of bunkers and finally we saw the marine port of Albania, hidden between the mountains at the seaside. Not very impressive. |
